British citizen Kane Kramer was the inventor of the technology that’s behind the best-selling digital media player in history: iPod. Even so, he has not earn a dollar from his creation, according to John Ranchal from The Inquirer.
The same source says that Apple has acknowledged that Kramer was “the father of the iPod” after the filing of documents in a court judged that a demand for Burst.com against the Cupertino company.
Burst.com claimed compensation for Apple to the patent technology of the iPod that considers itself, and it has openly acknowledged that Kramer is the true inventor, taking into account the testimony and evidence (with drawings of a prototype 1979).
Kramer invented the device in 1979 and patented the idea and created a company to commercialize the product. In 1998 he failed to pay the 60,000 pounds needed to renew his patents in 120 countries and the technology became publicly owned.
From there, the invention has achieved extraordinary earnings for Apple. Kramer, who had to sell his home last year after the closure of his business selling furniture, is negotiating with Apple compensation on the copyrights of the technology behind the iPod.
